Weft Hair Extensions Removal & Reapplication
Weft Hair Extensions Removal & Reapplication
How to take a weft out safely, and get it ready to go back in for another cycle.
How Long Does a Weft Last?
A single her flow weft typically lasts 6–12 months of regular wear, and up to 2 years with careful handling and proper storage between applications — well beyond a single wear cycle on the head.
Removing the Weft
Professional Claw Pliers for Weft Extensions
Shaped specifically to open beads safely during removal, without pulling on the natural hair strands running through them. Included in the her flow tool set for weft and keratin extensions, or sold on their own here.
View product →Removal starts with the thread, not the beads — every weft is sewn along its top edge, so that stitching has to come out first before a single bead is opened.
1
Position the scissors between the thread and the weft's seam, close to the hairline.
2
Carefully cut the thread above the seam until the stitching is fully released.
3
Open each bead along the row with the claw pliers.
4
Continue down the row, opening every bead in sequence.
5
Gently slide each released bead off the natural hair with your fingers.
Reapplying the Same Weft
Aluminum Silicone Beads (5x3x3), Nickel-Free
Beads are single-use once clamped, so reapplication uses a fresh set. Section, bead, and sew the same weft back in following our application guide.

Nylon Bonded Thread for Weft Extensions
Before reapplying, check the stitching along the weft's top edge — if any part has loosened, restitch it with a GL Hair Group c-needle and a matching thread shade so it stays secure and discreet.
View product →Before reapplying, also gently wash and condition the weft itself and let it dry fully.
Between Applications
- A little tenderness near the beads is normal right after a fresh application — it typically settles after the first wash.
- Store the weft clean and dry, laid flat or gently coiled, away from direct heat, between wears.
