Weft Extensions Tightening: Mid-Cycle Bead Adjustment

Weft Tightening: Mid-Cycle Bead Adjustment

As your natural hair grows, the bead rows move away from the scalp. Here's how to bring them back up without a full removal.

A quick tightening keeps rows sitting close and comfortable between full appointments.

1

Why Tighten Mid-Cycle?

Natural hair growth carries the bead rows away from the scalp over time. Once the gap becomes noticeable — usually every 4–6 weeks — the rows can be slid back up close to the scalp without removing and resewing the whole weft.

Open one bead at a time, slide it up along the natural hair closer to the scalp, then clamp it closed again in its new position — without unpicking the weft's stitching. Included in the her flow tool set for weft and keratin extensions, or sold on their own here.

  • 1. Open the bead gently with the pliers, just enough to release the natural hair inside.
  • 2. Slide the bead up to sit close to the scalp again, keeping the weft's tension even along the row.
  • 3. Close the bead firmly so it holds securely in its new position.
Don't overdo it: repeatedly opening and closing the same bead weakens it. If a row has already been tightened once or twice and is due again soon, it's usually time for a full removal and reapplication instead — see our removal guide below.
