How to Care for Hair Extensions in Summer, on Vacation?

Summer and vacation time are a big challenge for our hair extensions. There are many factors that can negatively affect their condition, appearance, and hair structure.

First and foremost, there is sea water and pool water. During the holidays, our hair extensions are exposed to prolonged exposure to such conditions.

Chlorine, which is used in swimming pools for disinfection, can have a bad effect on hair – the hair cuticles open and our hair extensions begin to tangle. The hair becomes brittle and fragile.

In turn, sea salt damages the hair, dries it out and again – like chlorine – opens the cuticles. Hair extensions are more susceptible to mechanical damage, breakage, and split ends.

Sea water contains a large amount of salt that negatively affects the hair structure. It is this salt that settles on the hair, draws out moisture and leads to dryness. Dryness is the biggest nightmare for hair extensions during the holiday season.

First, always rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water after each stay in the pool or sea (i.e., in the shower). Hair extensions should not be left damp to dry on their own (especially in the sun) without rinsing off the salt first. Otherwise, the hair will be damaged and matted. If you plan to spend a longer time in pool water or in the sea, it is worth applying appropriate protection to your hair first – e.g., hair oiling treatment. Oiling your hair before bathing in water creates a functional barrier, and thanks to this, less salt or chlorine penetrates our hair.

Hair oiling involves applying oil to the entire hair, its ends, or the scalp. The purpose of the oil is to replenish deficiencies in the hair cuticles, restore hair elasticity, and their healthy and beautiful appearance.

Exposure of Hair Extensions to the Sun, or How to Deal with UV Radiation?

First, it is worth wearing a head covering – a hat, a baseball cap, etc. Use a hair care product dedicated to hair extensions with a UV protection filter, e.g., in a spray. The principle is similar to protecting body skin. Unfortunately, UV radiation leads to the so-called phenomenon. photo-degradation of melanin in the hair – i.e., the pigment that protects it from this radiation. As a result, we have damaged protein structure in the hair, and they lose their shine and gloss.

Proper and Regular Care of Hair Extensions During Vacation

Regular use of moisturizing conditioners and masks to maintain an adequate level of hydration, containing keratin, argan oil, shea butter – is the key to success. We also recommend using a hair dryer, curling iron, or straightener to a lesser extent, which additionally dries out the hair.

We recommend the careMe! line of care and daily cosmetics. Their action is primarily intensive care, hydration, prevention of water loss, softening, and smoothing. Cosmetics improve the elasticity of hair extensions and reduce their susceptibility to brittleness and mechanical damage. They take care of their shine and healthy appearance, and are also very delicate and natural.
